Race 1: Night Race

Entered my first race today. This was the 2nd annual night race at the Mac Track. The heat race was in the afternoon. Did really well. Due to my newbie status, I had to start last, which I was perfectly OK with. I had passed two drivers because of a spin at the first corner, and made a pass for position on the back straight, after a couple of attempts on previous laps. Finished an estimated 6th place out of 9 contenders.

About a half an hour prior to the main event, which was to be ran under the lights, it started raining. I had to frantically dismount my dry-weather tires and mount my wets. Was able to make front and rear track width adjustments, but didn't have time to change front caster or my gear ratio. This time, I didn't do as well. I spun at the first corner about five times. My final resting place was 7th in the overall finish.

This was a fantastic result for my first race. My goal was three-fold: To not cause a multi-car collision, to finish the race, and to not be last, which I accomplished! This race result left me in 22nd position in the club championship out of 29 entries.
