First Practice of the year

Took my kart to the MAC track for the first practice session of the year. After my first session on the track, I found that I had a major oil leak. With the help of one of the other members, we determined that it was a broken gasket on the side cover. After replacing the gasket, there were no oil problems for the rest of the day.

Another problem I was having was bolts vibrating loose. I lost the clamp on my pipe mount and all the nuts that hold the engine to the mount were loose, with one of them missing. Also, the nuts that hold the header onto the exhaust ports were loose. I need to spend more time between sessions checking tightness.

This weekend, the track was being run in the reverse direction. I'm not as comfortable with this direction for some reason. I spent a nice long time on track finding the quickest lines in and out of the corners. I started with bad understeer. After moving both the fronts and rears in, I was able to go faster, but now have a bad hop coming out of the corners. My next practice session will be focussed on consistency and smoothness.
